Discharge Express (DEx) is a web-based application for streamlined discharge summary documentation. It supports physicians' workflows and avoids duplicating efforts for inpatient admissions. DEx has reduced the need for dictated and transcribed discharge summaries while enabling more complete and accurate documentation.

Discharge Express pulls from existing data to summarize information such as medications, allergies, and labs. This allows for more complete documentation in less time.

Over 95% of all discharge summaries at MGH are now completed online. In just 5 years time, that represents 200,000 completed online discharge summaries, and over $2,000,000 in saved transcription costs.
