The Hub is a integrated web based educational portal for residents, clinical staff, and researchers. It provides simple course registration functionality, a large number of tools that support learning online (e.g. forums, file sharing, quizzes, weblogs, wikis, group calendaring, and more), data collection, and reporting mechanisms so that end users can be targeted with tailored information and offerings. The first iteration of hub was created for the educational unit of the Clinical Research Program and the MGH Medicine Residency Training Program catering to the teaching and research mission of Partners Healthcare and leveraging open source technology to connect clinicians and researchers.
The next project phase focuses on clean integration with clinical tools, providing clinicians with easy ways to share interesting cases and take and contribute to self guided learning modules. In addition it will give selected peers and supervisors access to integrated online tracking and evaluation tools that facilitate feedback. Another focus will be making the educational portal more compatible with mobile devices and improving the overall usability of the most used features.
